Luna gives birth to four puppies

Recent Update:  [2011/4/28]  The puppies have long ago grown up. We kept two of them, Melody, the first born female, and Forte, the frisky and only male of the litter. They recently were playing together at the piano which you can see in the following video:   Four Dogs at the Piano

Our two Toy Manchester Terriers, Bati, the male, and Luna, the female, have given birth to four puppies. It happened on Friday, June 19, 2009. The four pups are healthy. They are active mainly only when nursing and sleep most of the rest of the time. Luna is a very careful and hardworking mother. She was a bit nervous for the first few days and tried to move the puppies upstairs. But now she's happy for them to stay downstairs in a large box and is comfortable to get out, rest and feed herself when the pups are asleep.

They don' t have names yet and their weight doubled in the first week. [Now of course, they do 4/'11] There are three females pups and one male puppy, who all look pretty much alike except for the male's white cross on his chest. It was hectic for the first few days since Luna was exhausted; but she insisted on not leaving the puppies alone but for a minute. Now things have calmed down. Their eyes will be opening any day now.

Bati, the older male dog who is the sire of the litter,  is a talented animal. One trick he can do is to play the piano. Actually, he uses sound to communicate what he wants (attention, food, to take a walk) with his human owers. You can see more of this talent in our Youtube video.
